Your Voice
Your chance to have a voice in our future
Kindergarten has always been about making connections. And those connections have never been more important than they are today. There are more ways than ever to get more involved with your local kindergarten and Kidsfirst, the organisation that supports it.
Our 63 kindergartens sit at the heart of communities across Canterbury and the West Coast, maintaining active and lively links with the families, services and businesses around them. This sense of connection has been at the core of kindergarten since its inception, and remains central to the Kidsfirst vision today.
Over the years, as life has become busier and families have changed, the way that we connect has also changed.
The Kidsfirst Board wants to hear more from teachers, parents and the wider community about the things that matter most to them – and that’s where ‘Your Voice in Our Future’ comes in.
The Parent Advisory and Teaching Advisory Groups
The inaugural advisory groups have been selected after nominations were called for at the beginning of the year.
These groups will play an integral role in shaping the future of Kidsfirst.
The Parent Advisory Group will have parent members, covering the wide spectrum of interests of our 63 kindergartens. A group of teachers, including a member of the Education Services Team will sit on the Teaching Advisory Group.
Become involved!
Every year we’re calling for enthusiastic individuals who are keen to share their views.
The positions are for one calendar year with an opportunity to continue for a second year. You’ll meet on a semi-regular basis, depending on what matters are referred to your Advisory Group.
You will need to be able to see the big picture and have a vision for what Kidsfirst will look like in 5 years time – you’ll be working for the good of all our 63 kindergartens.
Coaching and administrative support will be provided to successful applicants and there will be reimbursement of reasonable expenses.
We’re always asking interested parents and teachers to put their names forward by filling out an Advisory Group application form.
Interested parents and teachers will be asked to return their form to Kidsfirst Head Office - if you don't receive a form please speak to your Head Teacher or contact Head Office.
