Our philosophy

The Kidsfirst Kindergartens name means exactly what it says - your child's early childhood education needs will always come first.

With Kidsfirst, you're assured of the best standards of education and care, provided by highly-qualified, trained and registered teachers, with access to the resources of one of New Zealand's largest and most experienced kindergarten organisations.

At Kidsfirst Kindergartens we want your child to have a fantastic time, while learning and developing. We know that our programme provides a strong foundation for your child to become a confident and successful learner and to continue this during their school years and beyond.

We believe in first getting to know your child, looking at their strengths, abilities and interests. Then we develop comprehensive and well-documented plans to help bring out that potential.

Planning incorporating the Emergent Curriculum is central to our Kidsfirst philosophy. Teachers will collect samples of your child's learning in action in an individual folder - this folder belongs to you and your child. Our teachers will celebrate your child's successes and strengths with you, as well as find the things that interest and excite your child to learn.

There's more information about our curriculum at our kindergartens or just ask one of our teachers if you would like to know more.

We want the best for your child
It sounds simple but that's what drives us. Helping your child to grow and develop, all while having a great time and making friends. Of course there's a lot of hard work that goes into that behind the scenes.

When your child first comes to a Kidsfirst kindergarten, we ask you to fill out an enrolment form and discuss the transition process with you. This is so you'll have time to share information about your child with us.

Once here, if you want to talk more or have questions, just ask for an appointment time and we'll be happy to sit down with you.

At Kidsfirst we always keep our focus on the children
We follow an observation and assessment system, based on the principles outlined in early childhood curriculum, Te Whaariki. If you'd like more details, this is available in all our kindergartens.

You and your family are welcome to visit a kindergarten and participate in the programme at any time. This is a great way to see what your child is learning and how they are doing.

If your child has special learning or development needs, we'll work with you to meet them as much as we possibly can. We have your child's best interests at heart.

We encourage children to learn, play and explore... kindergarten is about developing while having fun.

Ko tā mātou he āwhina i ngā tamariki mokopuna kia ako, kia tākaro, kia tūhura... ko te mahi a te pūtahi tamariki nohinohi he whakawhanake, i te taha o te ngahau.
