Our morning programme is organised so that we have something special featured on each day of the week-Monday is Sausage Sizzle, Tuesday is Library Day, Wednesday is Baking Day, Thursday is Perceptual Motor (Exercise day) and Friday is Lunch Box Day.
The children enjoy being able to predict which routines come next and love to remind their parents.
Once a term we take our trolleys down to the local cemetery/park and go Pollution Busting, we bring all the rubbish back to our big bins.
Being a small, clearly defined community we work hard to involve the kindergarten in community events and services. For example we were the very first body to raise funds to Save the Railway Station. We have a major event at the statue of the Dead Soldier around Anzac Day and we parade through Kaiapoi at Christmas, in fancy dress and marching behind the local pipe band. We are very proud to be involved in our community. One of the features is that we have a man on our staff, John, which makes Kidsfirst Kindergartens Vickery Street different from other preschool experiences that the local children have.
